Each independently owned Repco Authorised Service workshop offers you an Australian-wide warranty ensuring the goods and services you receive are free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If something does go wrong or you have a question about our Nationwide Warranty, please get in touch with us here. With over 500 Repco Authorised Service centres Australia wide, there are few places you won't find one of our workshops within easy reach. Warranty Period For services provided by any Repco Authorised Service workshop, the warranty is for a period of 12 months or 20,000kms (whichever comes first) from the date of your invoice. Claims If you need to make a claim under the warranty, please contact the Repco Authorised Service workshop that originally completed the work on your vehicle. The workshop where the work was originally performed will be responsible for responding to and accepting claims. If the original workshop can't help, they may authorise another workshop in the network to assist. Terms and Conditions What does the warranty cover? The Repco Authorised Service workshop will have the option of reperforming, replacing or repairing the good or service if it is or becomes defective during the warranty period, at no additional charge.
a.       Where the good or service is replaced, repaired or reperformed pursuant to this warranty, the replacement good or reperformed service will be subject to the terms of this warranty commencing on the date of the original invoice.
b.       If you request for a good to be repaired, your Repco Authorised Service workshop may choose to replace the good with a refurbished good of the same type. The warranty will cover any reasonable diagnosis or scanning fees conducted by the relevant Repco Authorised Service workshop, if such goods or services are later found to be defective. If the work done on your vehicle involves the supply of services from another service provider nominated by the Repco Authorised Service centre, the warranty offered by such service provider will replace this Nationwide Warranty to the extent of such goods .  The Repco Authorised Service centre will advise you of the terms and conditions of such warranty. The rights and obligations under this warranty remain solely with the original Repco Authorised Service workshop that provided you with the product or service. The benefit of this warranty is personal to you and is not transferable. What does the warranty not cover? This warranty does not cover: normal wear and tear and consumable goods such as globes, wipers, and fluids; loss of any data stored in your vehicle like music or phone numbers; and any incidental loss or damage caused by the defect, such as towing fees, loss of profits, loss of use and loss of goodwill or other loss or damage that cannot reasonably be considered to arise normally. This warranty is void if the defect is a consequence of misuse, neglect, abuse, incorrect operation or improper maintenance of the vehicle, accident, or other use that is not otherwise caused by a Repco Authorised Service workshop. How to submit a warranty claim Step 1: Have your original invoice ready. Step 2: Ensure that you make your claim within the warranty period. Step 3:  Please contact the Repco Authorised Service centre that carried out the relevant repairs or maintenance on your vehicle. Their contact details are on  your original invoice.  Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law The goods and services acquired from a Repco Authorised Service workshop comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Nationwide Warranty

At Claremont Tyre and Auto, we recently had a customer bring in their newly purchased 2011 Mitsubishi Triton 2.5L 4D56 turbo diesel ute to investigate an engine oil leak. The vehicle had only been in their ownership for a short time, and understandably they wanted clarity and peace of mind about the issue. Initial Inspection & Findings The customer requested that we confirm the source of the oil leak. After carrying out a thorough inspection, we identified that oil was leaking from inside the timing cover area. Our initial diagnosis pointed towards a failed front crankshaft oil seal. During the discussion, the customer informed us that the timing belt kit had been replaced approximately six months earlier — before they had purchased the vehicle. Given the location of the leak and the recent timing belt replacement, we recommended booking the Triton in to remove the timing components and properly inspect the seals. What We Found Once we removed the timing belt components, the cause became clear: The front crankshaft oil seal had completely dislodged from its housing The camshaft oil seal was also leaking However, the root cause went deeper. Further investigation revealed that the ProVent catch can filter was completely blocked. This blockage caused excessive crankcase pressure, as the engine was unable to breathe correctly. When crankcase pressure builds up, it can force oil seals out of position — which is exactly what happened in this case. The Repair Process To rectify the issue, we: Replaced the front crankshaft oil seal Replaced the camshaft oil seal Installed a new timing belt kit Fitted a new ProVent catch can filter Reassembled all timing components to manufacturer specifications Conducted a thorough road test to ensure correct operation and confirm no further leaks After repairs, the engine was breathing correctly, crankcase pressure was normalised, and the oil leak was completely resolved. Why Catch Can Maintenance Is So Important Catch cans are a great addition to diesel engines like the 4D56, helping to reduce oil vapour contamination in the intake system. However, they must be regularly drained and the filter element checked or replaced as required. If a catch can becomes blocked: Crankcase pressure increases Oil seals can fail Oil leaks can develop Major engine damage may occur if left unchecked Routine servicing and inspections help prevent these types of issues — particularly when purchasing a used vehicle with aftermarket modifications.
